Vice President JD Vance has taken on the role of chief defender of the preliminary agreement to end the Iran war, a shift from his skepticism of foreign military interventions. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
Instead of promoting his second book, Vance became the main defender of the deal with Iran. He gave a series of interviews touting the memorandum of understanding as a success and released a video championing it.
President Donald Trump signed the agreement and joked that if it fails, he will blame Vance. Vance is expected to travel to Switzerland on Friday to kick off a new phase of negotiations with Iran.
The White House called Vance the president's right-hand man and an invaluable member of the national security team. Critics of the deal include conservatives.
