After two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening, relatives are posting messages on social media in a desperate search for missing loved ones. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.

Health Minister Carlos Alvarado said late Thursday that the death toll had risen to around 235, with at least 4,300 people injured. The number of casualties is expected to climb.

Social media posts include photos of missing people: a father holding the hand of his daughter dressed as a fairy; a 24-year-old man in a pilot uniform staring proudly at the camera; a family embracing on a soccer field.

The earthquakes heavily affected Venezuela's northern coast, including Caracas, La Guaira, and Catia La Mar. Rescue workers continue to search through rubble for survivors.
