Venezuelan President's envoy Delcy Rodriguez reported that the death toll from the earthquake in Venezuela has risen to 2,595 people. The number of injured has reached 12,400, according to RIA Novosti. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Tens of thousands of people are still missing, and search and rescue operations under the rubble continue.
According to foreign media, economic damage has already exceeded $6.7 billion.
Earlier, the country's authorities declared a seven-day national mourning and introduced a state of emergency. Venezuela is negotiating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to create a recovery fund of $200 million.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that two powerful tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 occurred in Venezuela. A state of emergency was declared in the country.
It was also reported that immediately after the earthquake, support for Venezuela was expressed by the United States, Panama, Qatar, Cuba, Nicaragua, Turkey, Jordan, Colombia, Barbados, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Mexico. They sent humanitarian aid and specialized search and rescue teams to help local services search for people under the rubble.
