The Washington Wizards have secured the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA draft, as reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing the Associated Press.

The draft takes place on June 23 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Wizards are considering three top players: AJ Dybantsa from BYU, Darryn Peterson from Kansas, and Cameron Boozer from Duke. All had strong freshman seasons.

Dybantsa led the nation in scoring, Peterson missed 11 games due to injuries and illness but is highly talented, and Boozer was named college basketball player of the year.

The Wizards last won the championship in 1978 as the Bullets. On the eve of the draft, Milwaukee and Miami agreed to a blockbuster deal involving two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Dybantsa said he might cry if selected, recalling his family's sacrifices.
