The Prosecutor General's Office has warned citizens about a new scam scheme spreading ahead of Teacher's Day. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to foreign sources, scammers send links to fake websites with attractive gift offers for teachers.
"To deceive, scammers use artificial intelligence to create images of goods that do not actually exist, and a chatbot responds to the buyer instead of the seller. Such sites look like real stores, but after payment the buyer risks being left both without money and without a gift," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
The Prosecutor General's Office recommended the following to protect yourself:
- 01do not follow links from suspicious messages and do not call the numbers;
- 02do not share passwords, PIN codes, CVV codes of bank cards, or SMS confirmation codes;
- 03do not make advance payments until you are sure of the site's authenticity and the seller's reliability;
- 04verify order information yourself through the seller's official website or app.
If you have already provided card details or noticed suspicious withdrawals, you should immediately contact the bank, block the card, and report the incident to the police.
