The Ministry of Digital Development and Artificial Intelligence has considered launching internet services on airplanes. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The ministry's Telecommunications Committee discussed the introduction of satellite internet on board aircraft with Air Astana and Viasat. The possibilities of implementing a project to provide passengers with high-speed internet during flights were studied.

Legal, technical, and organizational issues related to connecting aircraft to satellite communication systems were also considered. Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in further developing cooperation and agreed to continue joint work.

Air Astana plans to pilot test this technology on its aircraft in the fourth quarter of this year.
