Foreign ministers of CSTO member states discussed the situation in Ukraine and the West's policy of drawing Ukraine into NATO, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"One manifestation of such destructive policy is the active drawing of Ukraine into NATO by our Western partners, who are acting out of historical inertia," Lavrov said at an expanded meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers.

He also noted that the European Union had opportunities to help resolve the crisis in Ukraine, but all of them were missed.

"If the European Union really wanted to help resolve the conflict, there were many such opportunities, but all of them were missed," Lavrov said.
