The ceremonial event was attended by the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Andrey Serdyukov, Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO Mirlan Turgunbekov, heads of military contingents and invited officials.

«Increasing the combat potential of the CSTO Collective Forces, equipping them with modern weapons, military and special equipment, including unmanned systems, reconnaissance and electronic security systems, as well as improving the organization of air defence, are priority areas of activity during the Russian Federation's chairmanship of the organization», the Russian Ministry of Defence reported.
The ministry reported that the relevance of these tasks is due to the very complex military-political situation, the global situation, the deterioration of international relations and the approach of zones of instability to the borders of CSTO states.
