The activities of a group of people who organized illegal manganese ore mining on the territory of the "Vostochny" quarry in the city of Karazhal in the Ulytau region have been stopped. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Statement from the Financial Monitoring Agency
According to the Financial Monitoring Agency, the suspects used heavy quarry equipment — excavators, loaders and dump trucks — for illegal ore mining.
"A production base was equipped on the quarry territory, where the extracted raw material was processed through a crushing and washing complex. The ore was then transported by freight vehicles beyond the country's borders using the relevant documents," the statement reads.
Scale of the damage
As a result, the volume of manganese ore sold exceeded 4 thousand cubic meters, and its value exceeds 950 million tenge.
