British defense company BAE Systems has signed an agreement with a Ukrainian partner, enabling the start of production of towed 105mm L119 Light Gun howitzers in the country. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
BAE Systems has signed a licensing agreement with its strategic defense partner to support local production of the Light Gun artillery system in Ukraine. According to the company, the first phase will provide the Ukrainian side with technical documentation and assistance from BAE Systems specialists. This will allow the production of the first gun for testing. Subsequently, a version of the howitzer adapted to the requirements of the Ukrainian army is planned.
BAE Systems noted that this agreement is part of a broader program to support Ukraine and develop its defense industry. Last week, BAE Systems announced the start of deliveries to Ukraine of 105mm and 155mm artillery barrels produced in the UK under a contract worth £61 million ($82.5 million).
