The United Kingdom has trained over 68,000 Ukrainian military personnel, announced Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence Louise Haigh. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Responding to a question from Labour MP Gordon McKee regarding the number of Ukrainian troops trained, Haigh said: "Under UK-led programs, over 68,000 Ukrainian military personnel have undergone military training in the UK."
The written response was published on the UK Parliament website. The UK Ministry of Defence launched Operation Interflex in 2022 to train infantry of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In addition to the UK, 13 partner countries are participating in the program. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously stated that NATO countries are directly involved in the conflict, not only supplying weapons but also training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries.
The Kremlin noted that the West's massive arms supplies to Ukraine do not facilitate negotiations.
