The National Bank of Kazakhstan has put new collector coins from the "Bowels of Kazakhstan" series into circulation. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Name and composition of the coin

The coin is called "Nb (Niobium)". It contains a rare metal — niobium — which is used in metallurgy, electronics, as well as in the aerospace and nuclear industries.

Origin of the name

"The coin is named after Niobe, the daughter of Tantalus, a character from ancient Greek mythology. Niobium is set into the coin made of 925 silver. The coins were produced at the Kazakhstan Mint," representatives of the National Bank said.

Weight and composition

The total weight of the collector coin is 32.8 grams. Of this, 31.1 grams is silver and 1.7 grams is niobium.

Denomination and mintage

The coin with a denomination of 1,000 tenge was issued in a mintage of 1,000 pieces. It can be purchased from October 12 through the National Bank's online store.

It is noted that collector coins are accepted throughout the territory of Kazakhstan for all types of payments in accordance with their denomination. They can also be credited to bank accounts, transferred, broken down and exchanged at all banks in the country.
