The Monetary Policy Committee of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan has decided to set the base rate at 15.75% per annum with a corridor of +/- 1 percentage point. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Thus, the base rate has been reduced from 16.25% to 15.75%. The decision was announced in an official statement by the National Bank.
It is worth noting that in June the National Bank lowered the base rate from 18% to 17%. In July it was reduced to 16.75%, and in September to 16.25%. This time the rate has been cut by 0.5 percentage points at once.
Annual inflation has been declining for twelve months and stood at 9.3% in September 2026 amid moderately tight monetary policy and favorable dynamics of the tenge exchange rate. Price pressure remains high. The balance of risks has shifted toward the pro-inflationary side.
According to the National Bank, annual inflation may accelerate somewhat by the end of the year due to the low base effect of 2025 on regulated tariffs.
