This year, 45 criminal cases against members of organized crime groups have been sent to court. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Polisia.kz, in the Karaganda region a verdict was announced against the organizer and 10 participants of a criminal community engaged in stealing inventory from mining and processing enterprises in the region. The court sentenced them to imprisonment for up to 13 years.
A guilty verdict was also issued against the head of an organized crime group and four of its participants involved in similar thefts of property from the territory of a large city-forming enterprise in the region using hidden fraudulent schemes. They were sentenced to imprisonment for up to 10 years, the statement said.
In Almaty, 13 members of an organized crime group involved in illegal registration of vehicles, altering VIN codes and data in information systems, as well as fraud during the sale of cars, were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment of up to 8 years.
In the capital, the organizer and 5 participants of an organized crime group were convicted of selling drugs. The organizer was deprived of liberty for 17 years, while his accomplices received sentences of up to 16 years.
In Kyzylorda, 8 representatives of the local criminal environment were convicted of systematic extortion of money, including from entrepreneurs. During the investigation, they were charged with leading and participating in the activities of an organized crime group. The court sentenced them to imprisonment for up to 11 years.
