Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported a third Kazakh woman who may have been in the disaster zone on the Nepal-China border. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
"Information has been received about a third tourist from Kazakhstan who was presumably in the disaster zone on the border between Nepal and China," the Kazakh MFA said.
Kazakh diplomats are currently interacting with state authorities of Nepal and China. The search for all three compatriots continues.
"Kazakh diplomats are working with state authorities of both countries, the search for our compatriots continues," the ministry noted.
No other details about the tourists or the circumstances of their disappearance have been provided by the MFA yet.
Earlier, the death toll from the natural disaster in Nepal and Tibet reached 552 people, with nearly a thousand listed as missing. After a glacier collapse, a powerful flow of water, mud, stones, and ice destroyed roads, bridges, and energy facilities. More than 90,000 people were affected. In Tibet, 260 foreigners were among the missing.
