Due to a sharp rise in air temperature, Kazakhstan's road services are keeping republican highways with cement-concrete pavement under round-the-clock surveillance. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

As of July 18, constant monitoring is being carried out on road sections with a total length of 1,636.5 km. During scheduled inspections, six sections with local temperature deformation of cement-concrete pavement were timely detected in Zhambyl, Pavlodar and Turkistan regions.

Road crews and special equipment were promptly deployed to each section. A total of 51 road specialists and necessary special equipment were involved in repair and restoration work. As a result of constant patrolling and prompt response, all identified defects were completely eliminated in a short time, and traffic safety was fully ensured.

Currently, road services are operating in an enhanced mode. During extreme heat, the surface temperature of cement-concrete pavement can heat up to +60…+70 °C, and in some sections even higher. Constant patrolling allows early detection of sections at risk of temperature deformation and timely preventive or restoration work. This, in turn, prevents serious defects and helps maintain traffic safety.

Round-the-clock monitoring of the condition of highways with cement-concrete pavement continues.
