The MT UNITY vessel with a crew of 23 sailors has been detained at the Paradip port of the Republic of India. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the official representative of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, one of the sailors is a citizen of Kazakhstan.
"The detention of the vessel is related to the financial debt of its owner to a local fuel supplier. Kazakh diplomats are taking the necessary measures to return our compatriot to the homeland," the statement said.
According to reports, a corresponding diplomatic note has been sent to India's Ministry of External Affairs with a request to assist in resolving the issue.
The detained citizen and his family members have not applied for help to Kazakhstan's diplomatic missions abroad.
The issue is under the control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
