Three tourists born in 2005–2006 were stranded at an altitude of 3,680 meters on Big Almaty Peak and could not descend on their own, requiring rescue assistance. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Rescuers from the Republican Rapid Rescue Squad "Barys" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan promptly responded. They reached the tourists on foot through the Prokhodnoye Gorge. One of the young people showed signs of altitude sickness and his condition worsened. Rescuers provided first aid and then safely brought all group members down from the mountain.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations warns hikers to properly assess their strength, maintain hydration, and closely monitor their health when in mountainous areas.
