In Kazakhstan, in the first half of 2026, the volume of food production increased by 14.7%, and beverage production by 4.4%. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Significant growth was observed in a number of main food categories. In particular, production of meat, sausage products, vegetable oil and butter, cheese and cottage cheese, fermented milk products, cereals, pasta, rice, confectionery and processed vegetables increased.
"Today, the domestic market of Kazakhstan is provided with domestic products at the level of 80–100% for basic food products. Increasing the volume of own production directly contributes to maintaining prices within the country and protecting the market from import dependence," the government's message says.
Work continues on 6 main categories that are dependent on imports. These include: 1. poultry meat, 2. fish, 3. sausage products, 4. cheese, 5. sugar, 6. apples.
In order to directly curb prices and prevent speculative markups, the government holds regular working meetings with large retail chains, and also regularly organizes farmer fairs in the regions. At these fairs, products are sold directly from producers at prices 15-20% lower than market prices.
