By the end of 2026, home rehabilitation for children with disabilities will become available in four more regions of Kazakhstan. The expansion of the project was reported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The interim results of the project "QH Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities at Home" were discussed at a meeting of the Ministry's Coordination Council on Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities.
Currently, the program is being implemented with the support of the public foundation "Qazaqstan Halqyna" together with the National Scientific Center for the Development of the Social Protection Sphere. It is already operating in Shymkent, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar regions, and the Abay region.
Since the start of the project, 628 children have undergone comprehensive rehabilitation at home. They were provided with 405 innovative technical means of rehabilitation.
According to the ministry, positive changes were noted in 470 children — almost 75% of all program participants. Thanks to regular exercises, 130 children learned to confidently hold their heads, 76 to sit independently, 78 to stand with support, and 34 children took their first independent steps.
A resident of the Abay region, Nazym Rashitkyzy, whose son has been participating in the program for a year and a half, said that during this time the child has become more confident on his feet, independently picks up toys, and tries to eat without assistance.
"For our family, this is a huge progress. We are sincerely grateful for this project and hope that it will continue and become available to even more children," she noted.
One of the project's features is the constant remote support of families through a digital observation diary. Rehabilitation specialists monitor the child's condition, analyze the results of home exercises, and adjust the recovery program if necessary.
This format has made it possible to provide quality care to children living in remote settlements.
In the future, the digital platform is planned to be supplemented with educational materials for parents, speech therapy exercises, and new support services. In addition, regular in-person meetings for parents are planned to exchange experiences and mutual support.
By the end of 2026, home rehabilitation will become available to residents of the Mangystau, West Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan regions, and the Ulytau region.
Summing up the meeting, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Askarbek Yertayev emphasized that further development of the project is possible only through the joint work of the state, local executive bodies, and public organizations.
Earlier, Kursiv reported on where children and adolescents with disabilities can find friends in Kazakhstan.
