If your daily route is limited to the road from home to the car, then to the office and back, the body gradually adapts to a lack of movement. Physiotherapist and rehabilitation specialist Vladimir Karasenko explained why pain may appear under this routine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The gluteal muscles stop working
"You don't walk, you almost never climb stairs, you don't transfer your body weight onto your legs. The gluteal muscles stop working — they are simply not needed if you sit constantly. The lower back takes on all the load. After a month you notice: by evening your whole back aches," the doctor explains.
In addition, according to him, the neck begins to move forward. All because in the car a person sits leaning forward. In the office — at the computer. At home — on the phone. The head is constantly ahead of the shoulders.
Neck muscles get used to this position
Over a month, the muscles of the neck and upper trapezius get used to this position. You feel tension, but you do not connect it with the road.
"The hip joints do not open up — you sit all the time. The ankles do not work — there is almost no walking. Lymph does not move — there is no muscle pump. By evening the legs swell, rings are harder to take off, and in the morning you wake up feeling shattered," says the rehabilitation specialist.
Karasenko notes that after a month of such a routine a person may feel about five years older. And this is not the "norm," but a signal that it is time to change something.
What Karasenko emphasized earlier
Earlier Karasenko emphasized that considering age the cause of pain in joints and muscles is a dangerous misconception. In his opinion, in most cases a person is to blame for the onset of the ailment.
