In 2026, only a quarter of surveyed Kazakhs said they can buy housing with their own funds. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Bureau of National Statistics, 24.3% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the ability to independently purchase housing, while 40.8% indicated partial satisfaction. Meanwhile, 15.9% said they were dissatisfied, and 19% found it difficult to answer.
The results of a survey conducted in 2024 were roughly similar. However, at that time, the share of those who chose the answer "dissatisfied" was higher – 20.5%, while the share of those who found it difficult to answer was lower.
In 2026, 28.4% of respondents were satisfied with state support measures when purchasing housing. In 2024, this figure was 24.5%.
These data reflect the relevance of the housing issue in Kazakhstan. According to experts, the gap between rising housing prices and the income level of the population is widening every year. Despite the measures taken by the state, for many citizens buying housing remains unaffordable.
