Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom, visited the construction site of the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey and announced the completion of construction work on the first power unit. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During the visit, the head of Rosatom reviewed the progress of commissioning work on Unit 1. The full scope of construction work has been completed at this unit, and active preparations are underway for the stage of cold-hot tests of the reactor plant.
"We are recording the completion of construction work. Cold hydraulic tests of the reactor began tonight, and these works will be completed within a few weeks. After that, only a few weeks will remain before the start of commissioning operations. Based on the results of all work performed, an inspection will be carried out and necessary adjustments will be made for the final stage," Likhachev said.
He compared this moment to the last hundred meters of a 42-kilometer marathon distance. "Now the stage of the final push has come, so it is necessary to mobilize all efforts," he emphasized.
According to him, one of the important areas at the final stage is the launch of the service personnel's work. The number of personnel for the first unit is 1,930 people, more than 40% of whom are Turkish citizens.
