A 24-year-old Syrian citizen has been arrested in Alanya, Turkey, on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 35-year-old Kazakh woman. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to Turkish news agency DHA, the incident occurred on the night of July 16 in the Güllerpınarı district. According to the investigation, the woman met the man on Barov Street. Afterwards, they went together to a hotel on Sahire Tüzün Street.
After some time, the man left the hotel. The Kazakh woman then called emergency services at 112 and reported that she had been sexually assaulted and had lost her mobile phone, which she said the suspect had stolen.
Alanya police officers detained the man on the coastal road. At the police station, he was interrogated with the help of an interpreter and then taken to court.
"The court ordered the suspect to be remanded in custody. He was placed in a closed-type correctional facility in Alanya," the agency's statement said.
The incident is also being actively discussed in local social media communities. Posts state that the suspect has been charged with sexual assault and that the investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, Kursiv reported the story of a Kazakh woman named Tomiris who was left without a passport and money after meeting two strangers in Kuala Lumpur. The men promised to help her with accommodation but instead attempted to rape her.
