Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan, he delivered a message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Putin and Fidan met on June 17 in Kazan on the sidelines of the Russia-ASEAN summit.

"I delivered the message (from Erdogan to Putin). It included issues regarding the situation in Ukraine and other regional matters," Hakan Fidan said in an interview with CNN Türk.

According to the minister, Turkey considers maintaining direct dialogue with Russia very important. Therefore, the leaders of the two countries continue to exchange views on pressing international issues.

He stated that such meetings allow Ankara to better understand the positions of the parties and facilitate diplomatic negotiations.

Fidan also said that during the talks with Putin, he received important information from the Russian leader regarding the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, including the agreements reached during the negotiations in Anchorage.

"It was important for us to hear Putin's position on the Ukraine issue firsthand. We also listened to his opinion on the agreements reached in Anchorage and obtained relevant information," Fidan said.

Recall that on August 15, 2025, in Anchorage, USA, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump met to discuss a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. Both sides positively assessed the outcome of the meeting. Putin stated that there is an opportunity to fully end the conflict and that Russia is interested in a long-term and sustainable peace agreement.
