A Kazakh citizen who had been on the international wanted list was detained at a Turkish resort and deported to his homeland. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The 30-year-old man was detained as a result of a joint operation by officers of the Criminal Police Department of the North Kazakhstan Region, the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, and with the assistance of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Antalya. He had been wanted by Interpol since 2022 on suspicion of fraud.
"According to the investigation, from August to September 2021, the suspect, together with accomplices, defrauded Kazakh citizens of more than 6 million tenge," the police department of the North Kazakhstan Region reported.
On July 16, the man was deported from Turkey to Kazakhstan, where he will be involved in investigative actions.
The police noted that since the beginning of 2026, police officers in the North Kazakhstan Region have detained four people who were wanted for fraud. According to the materials of criminal cases, the total damage from their actions is estimated at 568 million tenge.
Earlier, Kursiv reported on how Turkey extradited to Kazakhstan a suspect in fraud, the "hacker from Atyrau." This refers to a man who became famous on social media after a high-profile story about the murder of an entire family in the Atyrau region. A video circulated online in which the detainee claimed to be conducting his own "investigation."
