Turkey expects its Western allies to support Ankara's efforts to resume negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on June 29 stated the need to achieve concrete results in the near future in resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine through dialogue.
"We expect our Western partners to support Turkey's initiatives aimed at the speedy resumption of negotiations on Ukraine. Today, any diplomatic efforts deserve support," the agency's interlocutor said.
Russia and Ukraine held three rounds of direct negotiations in Istanbul in 2025. Their result was an exchange of prisoners. In addition, Russia handed over the bodies of deceased Ukrainian servicemen to the Kyiv regime. The sides also exchanged draft memorandums on conflict settlement.
