According to the regional prosecutor's office, a court has sentenced a resident of Turkistan who attempted to sell her newborn baby. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The woman, born in 2002, planned to sell her child during pregnancy due to financial difficulties. She posted an ad in the "I want to adopt a child" community on the social network VKontakte, found a buyer, and agreed to sell her newborn daughter for 800,000 tenge.
On March 28 of this year, the woman gave birth to a healthy girl at the Pavlodar Regional Perinatal Center No. 1. During an undercover investigation coordinated by the city prosecutor's office, the criminal act was exposed.
As part of the operational measures, a person acting as the buyer was given money with pre-recorded serial numbers. On March 31, in one of the apartments in Pavlodar, the convicted woman handed over the newborn baby along with medical documents to the buyer and received a reward of 100,000 tenge.
The criminal case was heard in the specialized inter-district court for juvenile cases of Pavlodar. The woman was sentenced to five years in prison. However, under Article 74 of the Criminal Code, the execution of the sentence was postponed for 5 years.
