Restoration work is underway on the fortress wall of the ancient settlement in Turkistan, the Ministry of Culture and Information reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The decision to restore the wall was made based on monitoring results. During observation, it was found that the wall shifts by 10-15 centimeters annually.
According to the plan, a 32-meter section from the eastern gate will be restored. The total length of the emergency section of the wall is 40 meters.
The fortress wall was previously restored in the 2000s based on archaeological research. During the current scientific restoration work, the foundation will be strengthened, usable materials from the emergency section will be preserved, and the damaged part of the wall will be rebuilt using them.
