Police in Turkestan region, together with bloggers, are checking cars with foreign registration. The raids are part of the 'Safe Road' operational and preventive measure. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.
During inspections, vehicles with foreign license plates that are operated in Kazakhstan without registration are identified. During one of the raids, inspectors found five such cars. Among them:
- 01Toyota Camry (Russian plates)
- 02BMW X5 (Kyrgyz plates)
- 03Mercedes-Benz E-Class (Lithuanian plates)
- 04Lexus RX350 (Georgian plates)
- 05Hyundai Santa Fe (Armenian plates)
All drivers were brought to administrative responsibility.
In addition, police reminded car owners of the rules for operating vehicles with foreign registration and explained the need to register vehicles in Kazakhstan in a timely manner.
Driving a car without state license plates, unregistered in Kazakhstan, or after a ban on its operation entails a fine of 10 MCI (43,250 tenge in 2026). For a repeated violation within a year, the penalty increases to 20 MCI or deprivation of driving license for one year.
The police noted that such checks will continue.
Earlier, Kursiv Avto reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs could not say how many cars with foreign license plates are in Kazakhstan.
