A tourist died at an altitude of 2,400 meters in the Turkestan region. His friend, who also fell ill and became stranded in the mountains, required rescue services and an emergency helicopter. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The complex rescue operation took place at the Shunkulduk pass in the Tolebi district, within the Aksu-Zhabagly State Nature Reserve.
The report of the incident came from a man who said his companion died after a sudden deterioration in health. The caller also felt unwell and could not descend the mountain on his own.
"Emergency units and a helicopter from Kazaviaspas JSC were immediately dispatched to the scene. With the help of aviation, rescuers evacuated a man born in 1993 from the hard-to-reach area. After delivery, he was examined by ambulance medics, provided with necessary assistance, and released home — hospitalization was not required. In addition, rescuers brought down the body of a man born in 1978 from the mountain," the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
The ministry reminded that before going to the mountains, it is necessary to inform relatives about the route in advance, monitor the weather forecast, and take communication devices, water supplies, a first aid kit, and necessary medications.
Earlier, Kursiv reported how a 28-year-old tourist stood on a rock for three days in the mountains of the Turkestan region without food or water until rescuers found him.
