Two more cotton processing plants of Turkistan Tokyma LLP have been launched in the village of Syrdarya, Karakonyr rural district, Otyrar district. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The company's first two enterprises were commissioned last year. Thus, the total number of the partnership's plants has reached four, the akimat of the Turkestan region reported.
Akim of the region Nuralkhan Kusherov took part in the opening ceremony. He congratulated residents on the upcoming Republic Day.
“I sincerely congratulate all of you on the upcoming national holiday – Republic Day! Republic Day is a special holiday that strengthens the statehood of our country and affirms our independence. On the eve of this significant holiday, we are witnessing the opening ceremony of cotton processing enterprises,” said Nuralkhan Kusherov.
The akim noted that the launch of the productions is linked to the tasks of developing agricultural processing.
“Head of State Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev pays special attention to the tasks of deep processing of agricultural products, production of finished goods with high added value and enhancing the potential of domestic production. The production facilities being commissioned today are the result of concrete actions in this direction,” he noted.
According to Kusherov, a full production chain is being formed in the region's cotton industry.
“A cotton-textile cluster is being formed in our region, covering the full production chain from growing and harvesting cotton to its deep processing, production of yarn from cotton fiber and finished textile products,” the akim emphasized.
The cotton processing plants are located on a 76.2-hectare plot in the Turan special economic zone. The total investment in the construction of the four enterprises amounted to 17.129 billion tenge. Two plants were launched in 2025, and the construction of the other two was completed this year.
“The plants, equipped with modern technologies, allow processing 320 thousand tons of raw cotton per year and obtaining 110 thousand tons of cotton fiber. More than 100 permanent jobs have also been created for local residents,” Kusherov said.
The enterprises use modern Chinese cotton processing technologies. The production process includes receiving raw cotton, cleaning, drying, separating cotton fiber from seeds, pressing and packaging finished products.
According to the akimat, the full launch of the four plants will increase the volume of deep processing of raw cotton in the region and open up opportunities for producing high value-added products. In addition, the new enterprises provide local residents with permanent jobs, increase the economic activity of rural areas and strengthen the agro-industrial potential of the Turkestan region.
