A damaged section of the Shymkent-Uzbekistan border highway in Turkistan region has been repaired after extreme heat caused the road surface to lift. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to KazAvtoZhol, during monitoring works at the 780th kilometer of the republican highway, a lifting of the cement-concrete pavement was detected. Road service specialists took urgent measures and eliminated the defect in a short time.
In recent days, the air temperature in Turkistan region has risen to +44°C. When air temperature exceeds +40°C, the road surface temperature can reach +60…+70 °C, and even higher on sections with heavy traffic.
Road service specialists maintain constant monitoring of republican roads. According to weather forecasters, on July 18, temperatures in Kyzylorda and Turkistan regions may reach up to 48°C.
