Turkistan region received 31,823 foreign tourists in the first five months of 2026, which is 34.2% more than in the same period last year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In total, 143,100 tourists visited Turkistan region in the first five months, a 15.6% increase year-on-year. Domestic tourists accounted for 77.8% of visitors, while foreign guests made up 22.2%.
Most foreign visitors came from Uzbekistan, China, Turkey, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, and South Korea. This was announced by Askar Abubakirov, director of the Open Turkistan tourist information center, at a meeting chaired by the regional governor.
During the reporting period, 60,100 people vacationed in specially protected natural areas and recreational sites, a 2.1% increase. Investment in the tourism sector reached 36.3 billion tenge, doubling compared to the same period last year. Currently, 11 tour operators, 45 travel agencies, and 43 certified guides operate in the region.
