In the Almaty region, a verdict has been passed on 7 foreign nationals who were part of a transnational organized criminal group involved in the production and sale of synthetic drugs. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The specialized inter-district criminal court of the Almaty region sentenced 7 foreign nationals who were members of a transnational organized criminal group engaged in the production and sale of synthetic narcotic substances. Coordinated by the regional prosecutor's office, police officers identified 3 clandestine drug laboratories.

During searches, over 90 kg of ready-made synthetic psychotropic substances, more than 1 ton of precursors and chemical components, as well as equipment for their production were seized from illegal circulation. According to experts, the value of the seized items on the "black market" exceeds 1.5 billion tenge.

In court, the state prosecutor presented irrefutable evidence fully proving the guilt of the defendants. After a thorough examination of the criminal case materials, the court sentenced them to imprisonment ranging from 19 to 20 years. Additionally, 3 residential houses and cars belonging to the convicts were confiscated to the state revenue.

The activities of the organized network, which posed a serious threat to the widespread distribution of drugs in Almaty city and Almaty region, as well as to public safety, have been stopped. The court verdict has not entered into legal force.
