Hamilton testified before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. He vowed to maintain political neutrality in allocating FEMA aid. "My job is to assess every request fairly and reasonably," Hamilton said.
Hamilton previously served in various roles in the Trump administration. His nomination faced criticism from Democrats, who accused him of being prone to political influence. However, Hamilton stated he would maintain the agency's impartiality.
During the hearing, senators questioned Hamilton about FEMA's preparedness for climate change and the agency's budget. Hamilton expressed intent to improve FEMA's readiness for natural disasters.
