US President Donald Trump said on the Truth Social network that Washington can tighten sanctions against Russia at any moment. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
“Signing this document (on sanctions – editor’s note) now would lead to the same unfavorable result. I can sign it later, at any time I deem necessary!” he wrote.
According to Trump, he does not want to take any actions that would push Russia away from negotiations on Ukraine. “Significant progress has been made,” Trump added.
On Saturday, the US president decided not to apply part of the measures stipulated by the law on “extremely harsh sanctions” against Russia and Iran. Trump refused to impose duties of up to 500 percent on goods imported directly from Russia, as well as up to 100 percent on goods from five major countries that purchase energy resources from Moscow.
In addition, he did not introduce the restrictions on officials, banks and organizations envisaged by this law.
