US President Donald Trump in a new executive order refused to apply measures imposing tariffs of up to 500% on Russian goods. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The president noted that such a decision serves US interests. The decision not to apply these measures will remain in force until a special directive is issued.

Trump also refused to impose a 100% tariff on the five countries that buy the most Russian oil and gas.

In addition, the US president decided not to apply restrictive measures against Russian officials, banks and organizations envisaged by the new law.

A week earlier, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump spoke by phone. Following the conversation, the US president announced a large-scale agreement in the energy sector.

According to it, Russia will supply up to 3 million tons of diesel fuel to US and global markets, depending on the condition of its oil refineries. For this purpose, the US Treasury Department issued a special permit providing for exemption from sanctions. Its validity period is set until April 7.
