US President Donald Trump stated that Washington intends to bring the Russia-Ukraine conflict to an end, although the process has proven more complex than expected. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Speaking at Andrews Air Force Base, Trump noted that he had hoped to reach a settlement more quickly, but the negotiation process turned out to be challenging.

"We are trying to end this war between Ukraine and Russia. I would like to see it end. I thought it would be the easiest thing, but it turned out to be a little more complicated. But we will get it done," Trump said.

The US president also criticized the amount of American aid to Ukraine under the Joe Biden administration. According to him, European countries should have paid for the US weapons delivered to Kyiv.

"Europe should have paid for the $350 billion worth of weapons that the United States gave to Ukraine under Joe Biden," Trump said.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a one-week ultimatum to Alexander Lukashenko and threatened Ukraine's actions.

In the same speech, Zelenskyy stated that new sanctions against Russia are necessary to end the war. He expressed confidence that negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow would resume.

According to him, European partners support holding negotiations with US participation, and Ukraine is ready for a bilateral meeting with Russia provided international partners are present, as issues of security guarantees and European integration require the involvement of allies.
