The United States intends to impose a 20% fee on all cargo passing through the Strait of Hormuz to cover the costs of ensuring navigation safety. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

This was announced by US President Donald Trump. "Now the US will become the 'protector of the Strait of Hormuz.' However, as compensation for the costs necessary to ensure the security and defense of this extremely unstable part of the world, we will receive a fee of 20% of all cargo transported," Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.

According to him, the process of creating the relevant system will begin immediately. Earlier, Trump announced the resumption of a naval blockade against Iran.
