US President Donald Trump publicly expressed outrage that the Norwegian Nobel Committee once again did not award him the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. The award went to human rights activist and lawyer from South Africa, Navi Pillay. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Trump said the prize was given to "some liberal woman" from the UN whom "nobody has ever heard of." He also stressed that Pillay "obviously hates Israel," recalling her leadership of a UN commission that accused Israeli authorities of genocide in the Gaza Strip.

On the social network Truth Social, he listed his foreign policy achievements which, in his opinion, deserve international recognition.

"I settled eight wars, am close to finishing or settling two more, returned all Israeli hostages, including the last 28, alive and dead," Trump wrote. The US president also stated that thanks to his efforts, hundreds of hostages from various countries around the world were freed and returned home.

"I won the war in Venezuela and captured the brutal dictator who ruled that country so ruthlessly; I also did not allow the leading state sponsor of terrorism, the Islamic Republic of Iran, to obtain nuclear weapons. And that is far from all!" the American president continued.

"And despite all this, neither I nor the United States of America received the Nobel Peace Prize. WOW!" Trump concluded.

The awarding of the prize to Navi Pillay coincided with a sharp escalation in relations between the US and international judicial bodies. Almost immediately after the laureate's name was announced (Pillay is also a former judge of the International Criminal Court), the Trump administration, through Secretary of State Marco Rubio, announced the imposition of tough sanctions against the ICC.

Trump has been obsessed with the idea of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for many years and has been nominated for it repeatedly. In 2025, he similarly criticized the committee's decision when the prize was given to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado.
