US President Donald Trump announced at the White House that the signing of an agreement between Washington and Tehran could take place as early as this weekend. According to him, the parties have reached agreements on key issues, but the documents have yet to be formally finalized. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

"We have agreed to end the war with Iran, but the documents still need to be signed," Trump said.

The signing of the treaty is planned in Europe.

"The signing of the agreement could take place this weekend in Europe. I will not be able to attend in person, but the American side will be represented by Vice President JD Vance," the president emphasized.

Amid progress in negotiations, the US leader also announced the cancellation of previously announced strikes on Iran.

According to the White House chief, the decision was made after discussions were brought to the highest leadership of the Islamic Republic.

"Based on the fact that discussions with Iran were brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership (...), I cancelled the strikes on Iran planned for this evening," Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.

Earlier, the US president stated that the US military was ready to launch powerful strikes on Iranian territory as early as tonight.

Trump also said that the location and date of the signing of the agreement would be announced soon. According to him, the final points of the document have already been agreed upon by all participants in the negotiation process.

The US president noted that the US, Israel, Pakistan, Turkey and a number of Arab states participated in the discussion of the parameters of the future deal. Iran was not mentioned in the list of countries voiced by Trump.

Official Tehran has not yet commented on the US leader's statement about the imminent signing of the agreement.
