US President Donald Trump has said he is considering a new large-scale military offensive against Iran. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to him, Washington will have to make an important decision on further actions to end the conflict. The American leader said this in an interview with Axios.
"I have an important decision to make. Do I want to invade and destroy them (the Iranian regime) or not? It's an important decision. Anything can happen to me," Trump noted.
Earlier, Trump said the war could end in the near future. He expressed hope for a quick agreement and said that Tehran, in his opinion, is interested in a peace deal. At the same time, the US president did not disclose possible terms of the deal and did not say at what stage the negotiations are.
In addition, Trump demanded that countries that did not support the US in the conflict with Iran compensate Washington for the losses incurred. According to him, states that refused to help the United States will have to "pay up" after the war ends.
Earlier, Trump already spoke about the possible imminent end of the conflict, but did not name specific deadlines and terms of a peace agreement.
Meanwhile, Iran handed over to the US through intermediaries seven conditions for opening the Strait of Hormuz. Among Tehran's demands are the cessation of military threats, the lifting of the naval blockade and sanctions, the unfreezing of assets, compensation for damage and guarantees of navigation safety. The southern route of the strait remains closed, despite Washington's demands to open it. Iran and Oman also agreed on the details of new routes.
