US President Donald Trump announced the end of the ceasefire with Iran. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In a joint statement with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte ahead of the alliance summit in Ankara, the US president said the ceasefire agreement with Iran no longer holds for him.
"I don't want to deal with Iran anymore," Trump said.
In his speech to journalists, Trump also criticized the Iranian leadership.
"They are liars. Later they go to the press and say we didn't even talk about it. They have some flaw," he said.
On the morning of July 8, US armed forces struck Iran's southwestern province of Khuzestan. The local security department reported one death. In addition, two people were injured.
According to the US Central Command, the attack was prompted by Iran's strikes on commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in turn, struck US facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain.
Iran's Foreign Ministry said the US violated the memorandum of understanding.
According to WSJ, the US is interested in continuing negotiations.
