US President Donald Trump has banned journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico from visiting the White House. He accused these media outlets of spreading false information about the work of the American administration. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Trump announced his decision on Friday. According to the US president, the media should not publish materials that he considers false.
"The media should not have the ability to constantly write or report FABLES and LIES when covering the activities of the President of the United States, the Trump administration or the United States of America. Other fake media should follow its example," Trump wrote.
The American leader's decision may be challenged in court as contradicting the First Amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and the press.
CNN, MS NOW, Politico and the National Press Club have not yet commented on the president's statement.
Trump has previously criticized television channels and other media for publications about his administration. He has repeatedly called on television companies to take off the air news and humorous programs that ridicule or criticize him. In addition, the president proposed that the Federal Communications Commission revoke the licenses of television channels that produce such content.
Earlier, the Trump administration restricted Associated Press journalists' access to the president's events. The reason was the agency's refusal to use the name "Gulf of America" instead of the Gulf of Mexico, which the head of state introduced for American government agencies.
