President Donald Trump said he will have spent $400m supporting Republican candidates in the midterm races by the time election day rolls around on 3 November. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing The Guardian.
The staggering amount will be spent through his political operation and aligned Super Pac, Maga Inc.
“More than 300 Million Dollars has already been spent on Advertising, Direct and Indirect Voter Contact, Rallies, Rally Arenas, Telerallies, Get Out the Vote Programs, Election Integrity, and more. It is my Great Honor to do so on behalf of the Republican Party, which has done so much to bring our Country back from the Edge of Oblivion,” he wrote on Truth Social.
He cited his belief in the Republican party, but also the riots that have swept through France, as his reasons behind the spend. A reminder, Trump has repeated baseless claims that the demonstrations, which have descended into chaos and seen thousands arrested, are the result of mass migration.
According to him, the funds will be fully spent by election day. Trump's political operation and Maga Inc Super Pac are the main funding vehicles for his campaign.
Trump's statement underscores that Republicans are investing heavily in their campaign ahead of the US midterms. He noted his readiness to support the Republican Party and said the money will go toward voter mobilization, advertising and other campaign activities.
In addition, Trump reiterated his view on the consequences of mass migration, citing the unrest in France as an example. These claims have been criticized before.
The midterms will take place on 3 November, when all members of the House of Representatives and part of the Senate will be elected. Trump's financial support plays an important role in the Republican campaign.
