US President Donald Trump has announced that Stephen Miller, one of the architects of the US deportation program, will become White House chief of staff, replacing Susie Wiles. Trump said Miller will take office on November 9. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

“Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will move to Trump’s political team,” the president wrote.

Wiles managed his 2024 election campaign and then headed the White House staff.

The reshuffle was announced three days after the midterm elections, in which Republicans lost their majority in both chambers of Congress. Trump said the change of chief of staff is not related to the voting results.

Miller began working with Trump in 2016 as a speechwriter for his first presidential campaign. During Trump’s second term, he became deputy chief of staff for policy and helped develop measures to tighten immigration controls and expand deportations.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Trump named the war with Iran as one of the reasons for the Republicans’ defeat in the November 3 elections.

On the eve of the inauguration in January 2025, Trump promised to carry out the largest deportation in US history. In June 2026, the US Supreme Court blocked his executive order restricting birthright citizenship for children of migrants.

Kursiv also examined which Kazakhstanis might face deportation from the United States. In May 2025, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said it was studying the possibility of organizing a charter flight to return expelled citizens.
