President Donald Trump held a rally on the National Mall in Washington as part of America's 250th anniversary celebrations. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.

Trump said the event included a military flyover by stealth bombers, military bands, and a performance by singer Lee Greenwood of "God Bless the USA" fame. The president himself delivered a speech.

The rally comes ahead of critical November midterm elections and as oil prices ease following the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz after an interim deal to end the war with Iran.

The event was part of the "Great American State Fair" on the National Mall, the national park stretching from the U.S. Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial.

However, Trump's appearance on stage was only announced after several musicians — including Young MC, Martina McBride, and the Commodores — canceled their concerts due to concerns the event had become politicized. The president stepped into the void, hyping his ability to command a crowd.
