Ohio congressman and House Judiciary Committee chair Jim Jordan is closely tied to a company profiting from the Trump administration's anti-immigration crackdown. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing The Guardian.

According to a report by Pogo Investigates, the American Liberty Foundation, a Super PAC tied to Jordan, received $250,000 in "dark money" from Geo Group last year. The transfer came 11 days after the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which tripled the federal budget for ICE and other immigration enforcement to $170 billion.

"A company or its PAC can contribute to a Super PAC, but a federal contractor like Geo Group cannot," said Nick Schwellenbach, the report's author. Geo Group's PAC did not disclose this, while American Liberty Foundation did. Both are legally obligated to disclose.

Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Geo Group, alleging illegal campaign contributions. Critics say taxpayer money is creating a "deportation-industrial complex."

Geo Group operates 52 ICE detention centers across 16 states. Conditions are poor: detainees at Delaney Hall launched a hunger strike over lack of medical care. New Jersey sued Geo Group for access to inspect the facility. In Michigan, relatives of 1,500 detainees at North Lake Processing Center reported verbal abuse and denied visits.

The Guardian received no response from Geo Group. Rights groups say poor conditions are a tactic to force self-deportation. Trump's former attorney general Pam Bondi worked as a lobbyist for Geo Group.

ICE is Geo Group's largest revenue source: 41% of 2024 income came from ICE. Net income rose from $31.9 million under Biden to $254.3 million under Trump. Founder George Zoley called last year "the most successful period for new business wins."

Late last year, Geo Group received a two-year, $60 million contract from ICE. On June 10, Trump signed a $70 billion immigration package, including $38 billion for ICE. However, by end of 2025, the company had $1.61 billion in debt. With Trump's return, Geo Group reopened 6,000 detention beds in New Jersey, Michigan, and Georgia.

Campaign Legal Center director Saurav Ghosh said: "A huge part of their business is federal contracts. As a result, they are barred from making political contributions. Dark money is a significant problem. In 2024, it amounted to $1.9 billion."

Jim Jordan is a ten-term congressman and staunch Trump ally. Geo Group's donation to his Super PAC raises legal questions.
