Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the Akorda press service, the head of state was met at the airport by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers — Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that on October 8–9 Tokayev will visit Avaza at the invitation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The visit program includes the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS, and the Caspian Environmental Summit.

Recall that in December 2026 Tokayev visited Ashgabat to participate in the Forum of Peace and Trust.

Thus, the working visit to Turkmenistan appears as another diplomatic step by the President of Kazakhstan aimed at strengthening regional cooperation. The events in Avaza will allow for the continued development of political and economic ties between the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan.

The main agenda of the visit covers three key areas. First, the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan is dedicated to discussing current issues of regional cooperation. Second, the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS is aimed at continuing interaction within the Commonwealth. Third, the Caspian Environmental Summit focuses on improving the environmental situation of the Caspian Sea and nature conservation issues.

It should be noted that this visit, carried out at the invitation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, demonstrates the high level of friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Political dialogue and economic cooperation between the two countries have significantly strengthened in recent years.

In addition, Tokayev's participation in the Forum of Peace and Trust in Ashgabat in December 2026 confirms the sustainable development of bilateral relations. This forum is an important platform at the international level.

The meetings and summits in Avaza demonstrate Kazakhstan's active participation in regional and international initiatives. President Tokayev's working visit defines the priorities of the country's foreign policy, including the development of cooperation with neighboring states.

The agreements to be signed during this visit and the decisions taken will undoubtedly give new impetus to regional stability and mutually beneficial cooperation. Relations between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are developing at the level of strategic partnership.

It is worth noting that the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, and the city of Avaza have become an important center for international events. The summits and forums held here open new horizons for regional cooperation.
